Center for Gender Equity & Empowerment Mission, Vision & Mandate

The Center is guided by two policies; one on Gender, and the other on Sexual Harassment. These respectively ensure that:

(1).

  • The curriculum design, development and implementation are gender responsive
  • Pedagogy and material development are gender responsive.
  • More participation of vulnerable and marginalized groups from a gender perspective is upheld.

(2). Sexual Harassment and Gender Based Violence are recognized and instantly addressed.

Mission

To mainstream gender in all operations of Kenyatta University and ensure safe and conducive learning/working environment.

Vision
To provide guidance to Kenyatta University on how to respect and value each individual irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, race and any other differences, uphold human dignity, equality and equity.

 Center’s Mandate

  • Development, dissemination and implementation of relevant policies. Work towards attainment of 40% involvement and participation of women and men in all operations of Kenyatta University.
  • Formulating ways of having more girls enrolled in Kenyatta University in all Courses, particularly in Sciences. Ensure Affirmative Action is embraced wherever necessary.
