- Facilitate gender mainstreaming in all functions of the university;
- Sensitize staff and students on Gender issues and on the Gender Policy and Sexual and Gender -based Violence Policy of Kenyatta University;
- Outreach and advocacy programmes on HeforShe and Gender Based Violence and Sexual Harassment through public lectures, seminars and workshops;
- Collect sex-disaggregated data in order to advise University Management on attainment of two-thirds constitutional requirement for gender representation and performance contract reporting;
- Write proposals to seek funds to help in the implementation of the Center’s mandate;
- Hold Gender Training Workshops on Gender Mainstreaming in the Curriculum;
- Conduct a situational gender analysis on teaching and learning environment; and
- Conduct assessments on Gender Based Violence and Sexual Harassment in all Kenyatta University campuses.

- Finalizing and piloting of the SGBV digital reporting mobile application.
- Sensitization seminar with KUSA on the SGBV Reporting Application on 2nd February.
- In partnership with University of Warwick, worn a grant of £25,000 on prevention of SGBV and promotion of safe spaces at Kenyatta University.

- On the International Day for Women; held a webinar on 5th of March, 2024 and CGEE held a physical event on the 8th of March, 2024 at Kenyatta University main Campus
- Worked with Wazi Foundation to install Sanitary Towels at various points on Campus as a way of promoting gender equality and empowerment of women in institutions of higher learning.

Center for Gender Equity & Empowerment Mission, Vision & Mandate
The Center is guided by two policies; one on Gender, and the other on Sexual Harassment. These respectively ensure that:
(1).
- The curriculum design, development and implementation are gender responsive
- Pedagogy and material development are gender responsive.
- More participation of vulnerable and marginalized groups from a gender perspective is upheld.
(2). Sexual Harassment and Gender Based Violence are recognized and instantly addressed.

Vision
To provide guidance to Kenyatta University on how to respect and value each individual irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, race and any other differences, uphold human dignity, equality and equity.

- Development, dissemination and implementation of relevant policies. Work towards attainment of 40% involvement and participation of women and men in all operations of Kenyatta University.
- Formulating ways of having more girls enrolled in Kenyatta University in all Courses, particularly in Sciences. Ensure Affirmative Action is embraced wherever necessary.
